Terms and conditions
The terms for using our website, and for the quotes and work we provide.
Last updated
These terms apply when you use tecongroup.com.au, and when you ask Tecon Group Pty Ltd (ACN 125 701 466) for a quote or engage us for work. By using the website or accepting a quote, you agree to them.
About these terms
“We”, “us” and “our” mean Tecon Group Pty Ltd. “You” means the person or organisation using the website or asking us for work.
If we sign a separate written contract with you, such as a domestic building contract or your organisation’s own service agreement, that contract applies and takes priority over these terms where they differ.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or under any other law that can’t be excluded.
Using our website
- Use the website lawfully. Don’t try to break into it or overload it, copy it with automated tools, or send spam or automated submissions through its forms.
- Information on the website is general. It isn’t advice about your property or installation, which we can only give once we’ve looked at the job.
- We work to keep the website accurate and available, but it may change, or be unavailable at times.
- Links to other websites are there for convenience. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for them.
Our content and photos
- The text, design, logos and Tecon Group name on this website belong to us or are used with permission. You’re welcome to view, share and print pages for your own use, but please ask us before copying them for any other purpose.
- Our clients’ names and logos belong to them. We show them to list organisations we’ve worked for.
- Many photos on this website, including the “Step on site” panoramas and the photos with our testimonials, are illustrations and don’t show our own projects or our clients’ sites.
Quote requests and enquiries
Sending a quote request or enquiry doesn’t commit you or us to anything. We’ll contact you about it, by your preferred method where we can. Please give us accurate details. We use them as our Privacy policy explains.
Quotes
- Our quotes are free, and you’re under no obligation to accept them.
- A quote covers the work it describes, based on what we knew about the job and could see when we prepared it.
- A quote is valid for 30 days from its date unless it says otherwise. After that we may need to update it.
- Each quote shows whether its prices include GST.
Doing the work
Access and safety
Please give us safe access to the site, including the switchboard and work areas, at the times we agree. Before we start, tell us about anything that could affect safety, such as known asbestos or other hazardous materials, earlier electrical problems, or pets.
Changes and hidden problems
If you ask for changes, or we find something that couldn’t reasonably have been seen when we quoted (such as hidden faults, damaged wiring or asbestos), we’ll explain the extra work and its cost, and get your agreement before we do it. The exception is making the site safe in an emergency, which we’ll tell you about as soon as we can.
Electrical safety and certificates
If we find an installation that’s unsafe, we’ll tell you, and we may need to make it safe, which can mean disconnecting it. We issue the certificates the law requires for our work, such as a Certificate of Electrical Safety.
Photos and records
We photograph sites and our work for job records, quality checks and safety, as our Privacy policy explains.
Invoices and payment
- Please pay each invoice by its due date, using the payment details on it, with the invoice number as your reference.
- Where we charge for time rather than a fixed price, labour is based on the time our staff record on the job.
- If you think an invoice is wrong, tell us before it’s due and we’ll check it with you.
Your consumer rights
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:
- to cancel your service contract with us; and
- to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.
You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.
Products we supply may also come with a manufacturer’s warranty, on top of these rights. If there’s a problem with our work or anything we supplied, please contact us.
Responsibility for loss
We’re responsible for loss or damage we cause, as the law provides. Apart from rights that can’t be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws, we aren’t responsible for loss caused by:
- events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather or supply shortages
- work done, or materials supplied, by others, including you
- using this website, or relying on its general information.
Staff login
Tecon HQ, reached from Staff login, is only for Tecon Group staff and people we’ve given access. Keep your password to yourself, and tell the office straight away if you think someone else has used it. Don’t try to get into HQ, or information in it, without permission. Your use of HQ is also covered by your employment or engagement terms and our workplace policies.
Privacy
Our Privacy policy explains how we collect, use and look after personal information.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms on this page when you accept a quote apply to that job. These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia.
